Went for a masterclass conducted by American pianist, Julie Bees, this morning as an observer. And here are some notes that I jotted. Basically there were four pianists played in the masterclass---a sonata by Beethoven, black-keys Etude by Chopin, an Etude by Debussy, and Menuet Antique by Ravel.

1. Avoid using fingers 3 and 4 together, especially when u're playing trills.

2. Practice scales in this way--- play finger 1, followed by fingers 2 and 3 in clusters, use elbows to help your thumb to turn to finger one again, followed by fingers 2, 3, and 4 in clusters. Repeat this until the scale is finished.

3. The fleshy part of fingers have more nerves compared to the fingertips. Thus, play using the fleshy part of fingers help your brain to sense your finger more, and that's how you play piano without thinking much. (I doubt, playing using fleshy part of fingers couldn't run fast.)

4. Separate one hand part into two hands and listen to it.

5. Focus on the melody part rather than the accompaniment.

6. Alfred Cortot---a pianist who is famous in playing Chopin and Schumann's pieces.

7. Tips to play octaves---Lift your thumb when playing octaves. The wrist gets released when you lift your thumb. Do not play too loud, relax.

8. Debussy's 'tenuto' doesn't mean tenuto, they mean a little accents, so bring them out loud.

9. Stay contact to the keys so that it doesn't produce percussive sound.

10. Arms go circular motion easier and more natural rather than horizontally. Thus you can hit a key which is very far away by moving the arms in circular motion.

it's not a joke

I have got my result for the previous sem...and it's a good one! Almost everyone got a result which is much better than expected, although this is our toughest sem within all three years. This is a pretty good news for me as I'm quite upset recently because of the cracking relationship between my boyfriend and I. My right eyelid was jumping since few days ago. The old people said that the jumping right eyelid brings fortune, while if the left eyelid jumps, there might have something bad happen. Hence, was the good result the fortune that my jumping right eyelid brought me?

By the way, USM is in big trouble recently. There were 4574 students being informed through online that they were accepted by USM but yet their names were cancelled from the intake name list after one day. According to USM, this was the mistake of the computer system and the 4547 students are actually not included in the intake name list. At the same time, I was told that our result can be checked through online... When I first saw such a good result that belongs to myself, I wondered whether this is also a joke by USM...I got Dean List!!! I got the highest CGPA among the previous four semester!!! How unbelievable it is!!

I wished that this is not the mistake of the computer system. I wished that this is not a joke by USM. I wished my result will be the same when I checked it time by time. Yet, in the next day, when I tried to access the website to check my result again, I was told that the website was in maintainence...Oh gosh! Does this mean that my good result was just a joke?

Luckily, the website got well after a few hours and my result was still the same.

By the way, I'm rather happy that I got an A- for my English.=)
Being a USM student, it's compulsory to study English for two semester. If you got band 3 and below in MUET, you have to study English for one semester more than others. This was the first English class that I took in USM, therefore I have one more semester to go.

This was found in one of the chapters in the notes of my English class. The page was about the funny grammar mistake done by the public and there are real photos taken as sample. I was surprised to see my hometown address there...Look carefully, it's taken in Taman Suria, Sitiawan!

Days Without You

I was rather busy these few days.

Firstly, I wake up very late in the morning everyday.=P

I spent almost half of a day watching the korean drama, "Iljimae", and I have finished watching it within five days. It's really a nice drama, the nicest I have ever seen, seriously!

I helped dad in his schoolwork, and I helped mum with some housework. I also helped a senior in his music album by playing erhu. He's from the group "Alexander The Phatos", a group that founded by themselves, and they're planning to record their own music album recently. Since we're far apart from each other as I'm at home for my semester break, I recorded my part using computer software, Cooledit, and we contact by email and facebook. I'm glad that I have a chance to give them a hand. I hope my recording can be accepted as I'm not quite confident with it.

Well, the song that I played in is entitled "Ikan Kekek", which is a malay folksong. They wanna combine the malay culture with chinese culture, thus they asked me to improvise using erhu on top of the malay folksong.

I have a thought in my mind, for the coming Fathers' Day. I have never buy my dad any gift before because I never know what does he like and what does he need. Few days ago, the power supply has been cut for almost four hours at night. I had my pinky MP4 with me since I have nothing else to do and it was too hot to fall asleep. I switched on my MP4, listened to the album of the 12 Girls Band, "Hui Huang", which I have never really listen to it before, and I fell in love with it! Then, a thought came out in my mind: since my dad likes to buy cassettes of Guzheng, Erhu, etc to play in the cassette player in our car, why don't I get him the cassette of this album since it's nice? By the way, I wish if I could get it in Sitiawan (where shall I go to look for it?).

Let's share with you one of the piece from the album, which is my favourite one.

Malaysia confirms first case of A(H1N1) flu (Update)

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia on Friday confirmed its first case of the A(H1N1) flu in a 21-year-old student who returned from the United States on Wednesday morning.

All passengers on the Malaysia Airlines flight MH091 from Newark on Wednesday are urged to contact the Health Ministry by calling 03-88810200 or 03-88810300.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the case made Malaysia the 36th country to be affected by the virus.

Meanwhile, A statement by the Health Ministry's director-general, Dr. Ismail Merican, said the young man was hospitalised on Thursday for fever, sore throat and body aches.

Tests confirmed that he was infected with the A(H1N1) virus, the statement said. He is receiving anti-viral treatment and was in stable condition, it said.

Ismail said the ministry had contacted members of his family but they have not been placed under quarantine.

Ismail said his department was taking steps to protect public health and that there was no reason to panic.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that a man from Bukit Mertajam held under observation at the isolation ward of the Penang Hospital has been declared free of Influenza A (H1N1).

"We just got a report that the blood test on the 26-year-old man was negative," State Health, Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh said when contacted by Bernama Friday.

A test on a sample of his blood had been sent to Kuala Lumpur.

The man was kept for observation Thursday after he was found to have fever and symptoms similar to those of Influenza A (H1N1) on his return from the United States.

Two weeks ago, a New Zealand tourist was admitted to the isolation ward of the hospital for suspected Influenza A (H1N1) but a blood test also showed up negative.

BB Cream!!!

BB Cream!!! The latest trend of make-up!!!

BB Cream is the short form of Blemish Balm Cream. It is the hottest cosmetic in Asia nowadays, origin in Korea. It is actually invented by the German dermatologists for the post-laser surgury patients as a healing treatment. The Korean have then developed it into a cosmetic. It acts not only as a cosmetic but also as skin care. It has the touch like a foundation, which it can cover up blemishes and pores, and it also serves as moisturizer and sunblock.

It was in the end of last year, the pimples started to grow on both side of my cheeks. What will be your first response when you see pimples grown on your face? I bought pimple cream and masks, tried to heal them by using pimple cream and masks. Yet, the pimples are not healed but spread all over my cheeks. As I have used to make-up badly, and there was a trip going to Taiping and Selama with my coursemates at that time, I wished to look good in photographs so I make-up thickly to cover up my pimples. This has ended up with more pimples on my cheeks. I realized that normal foundation will hasten the growth of pimples, so I decided to abstain from make-up since that trip.

After that, a friend of mine told me in MSN that, why don't you try to use BB Cream? It might not heal your pimples, but at least, it could fulfill your wish to cover them up.

BB Cream? I had never heard of it during that time. After doing some research, I knew that it is a product from Korea, thus only Korea skincare brands selling it. You could never found BB Cream in Maybelline, Loreal Paris, Silky Girl, Majolica Marjoca, etc.

The BB Cream from Etude House is the cheapest BB Cream that I've seen in Malaysia so far, which costs around RM45. Etude House is quite new in Malaysia. The shop was decorated in pink colour, all in pink!!! I was so surprised when I saw this shop for the first time in Ipoh Parade. It's just..so pretty and sweet!

These are mine, a BB Cream from Elianto, which costs RM49.40, and a lipstick from Mentholatum. I will not go out of my house without them! Make-up is like drugs, it made girls addicted on it! After reading some girls' blog out there, I found that BB Cream + loose powder is the newest combination for lighter and nude-like make-up. The foundations are not necessary anymore~

This is the BB Cream from Skin Food. I'm gonna get it after finished my Elianto's one.hehe..

A Brand New Dreamland

I have abandoned my English blog for almost one year..Since I have two months holidays now, I've decided to give it a brand new spirit. ^^

After a few investigation and tryout on blogger.com, I've successfully created a new look and design for my English blog, and I found that decorating a blog in blogger.com is ~~much more~~ easier than decorating a blog in wretch (as what I've learned in my English class in USM, there's not such phrase as much more easier, much more better, etc). And now, it has a new name---Etude of Dream, which Etude means studies and exercises pieces for piano playing. It made me think of the Korea cosmetic, Etude House; and also my favourite piano piece by Franz Liszt, Trois Etude de Concert No.3: Un Sospiro (the art music always have such a long title -.-|||).

What do you think about the new banner and the new background? It's me, with my new guitar and my favourite dress, pretending playing guitar by posing with the first chord that I learned, which is the G Major chord. The background is pinky as I love pink very much =P. At the same time, I've deleted some old posts that I think they are meaningless.

Although the name is not Dreamland anymore, but it still functions as the dreamland for me to dream in. =) Whenver I get bored to write in mandarin, whenever I feel that I can express better in English, catch me up here ^^.

It has been a long time that I didn't write in my English blog.
I'm lazy,I knew that.
I'm lazy to write in English,I knew that.

I'm not gonna have English as one of my subjects in this coming sem anymore.My credit hour is full after adding my minor subject and Hubungan Etnik(this is compulsory in this coming sem).

Yeah,I'm glad that I don't have to write English essays.

Anyway,I'll still continue my English blog,once in a blue moon(did I use this correctly?hehe).

Haha...

I get to leave my lovely home very soon.Perhaps on this Saturday or Sunday.I was plan to go back to Penang on Saturday at first,but I just got the news that the office of our hostel will only be opened on this Sunday,not on Saturday.

One of my friends has reached his hostel today,but he didn't get to take his room keys.I don't know why,and he doesn't know why too.Poor him,has to wait in the canteen for nothing.

The reciptionist in the office was cruel,isn't him/her?

sunblock = UV protector = UV cream?

This is my first time searching for a sunblock,after Janet's advice that we'd better use it to avoid black spots when we get older. It'll be too late to be rescued if there have started to grow black spots on our skin.I didn't know how to choose a sunblock.Janet has recommended me a Neutrogena one.It costs RM37.90 for 30ml.

Hmmm...it's affordable,but...what an expensive price...
The face moisturizer cream that i ever bought has never cost more than RM30...

It'll be better if we do some survey before we buy something,agree?

I have been wondering what's the difference between a sunblock, a UV protector, and a UV cream/lotion since i started my survey.I heard that a UV cream is not a sunblock,what about UV protector?Are they the same?

I have never get an exact answer for it.

I don't wanna get Banana Boat,because a friend of mine who has joined NS before said that it has very terrible smell.

I tried to look for a cheaper one.

The salesgirl in Guardient has recommended me a Ginvera one,after I told her that I was looking for a sunblock.But it doesn't look like a sunblock.It looks more like a UV cream.I was a little bit attracted by it,because it has a reasonable price, RM25.90 x 15% for 30ml.

After a long think,I've bought Pure&Mild UV protector,which costs RM25.90 x 15% for 40ml.

I felt sorry to the sales girl,because she purposely opened the Ginvera one to let me try the smell.But I didn't buy the one she recommended.

I think I should make my own decision without influenced by her kindness.

Is a UV protector same as a sunblock?

I don't know...

I was sleeping over the whole afternoon.
I've rejected his date,I prefer to sleep at home rather than going the place that I don't wanna go.
He suggested to have some drinks in Breadforest.
He knows that I hate the boss in Breadforest,but he still suggested there to go.
He knows that I don't wanna go there,but he didn't want to change his mind.
"I wanna go to Breadforest,"he said,after a few times I rejected it.
"Why don't Strawberry,or Secret Recipe,or McDonald?"I said.
"The seats in Breadforest looked nice,"he said.
He didn't know how proud the boss of Breadforest was.
He didn't know how the boss joked by critisizing me and him.

"Oh,he bought you the shirt?It's so cheap!I saw it in Pasar Malam.Three for RM10.hahahahahaha...My son bought handphone for his girlfriend you know?"
What a proud old man.
Do you think that a cheap gift means nothing to a couple?
As long as my boyfriend bought it specially for me,I'll appreciate and love it a lot .I don't care how cheap it is or how worthless it is,even it's just a small flower that he plucked at roadside.
That old man was too materialistic.
I was working in Giant for 5 months last year.I got to know him in Giant because he has a bread shop in Giant.That was the second shop that he was having.
He was a cheerful old man.He loves to joke.He loves to laugh.I was cheered up by him at the first few months I worked there.I think everyone was cheered up by him too.
But after a few months,I realized that he was joking by critisizing someone.I hate it.
I started to hate his jokes that he thought it's funny,but actually it's not.
NOT FUNNY AT ALL.
I hate him for being proud.I hate him for being materialistic.I hate him for laughing at me.I hate him for critisizing my boyfriend.
I HATE HIM.

He's the only person that I wish I'll never meet him again after I left Giant.

Hi.

This is the second blog that i'm having.It'll be an English blog.My first blog was a mandarin blog.I prefer to write in Mandarin.Mandarin made me to feel more comfortable to express myself.I'm not confident to write in English.My vocabulary is limited.

I can express better in Mandarin.I can write faster in Mandarin.I can write longer in Mandarin.I'm more confident in using Mandarin.
